Brother Man
Thus far in the book i see alot of relationship issues coming out such as cheat, lies, trust and deceit. Some other major themes evident are sickness, friendship, violence, faith & love... there is also some talk about ghostly spirits in the book. As far as friendships are concerned i find that there are some very good and loyal friendships coiming out in this book, for example: Jesmina is very loyal and patient towards Cordelia and the sickness she faces, i like the fact that she comforts her in her time of need especially at a time when she doesn't really have anyone to turn to, at least no one is mentioned. Brother man as well is a very good man, he too is very helpful towards cordelia and her son. i find him to be a very caring individual. I in particular admire his love for the people and animals alike as well as his environment. Additionally i admire his kindness towards Minnette, i like the fact that he took her off of the streets and cared for her at such a young age and that he never took advantage of her innocence. Papacita's and Girlie's relationship to me is one that occurs in everyday life, Girlie seems to me to be a very good woman and i get the idea that she really does love him and probably doesn't really want to leave but threatens him about doing so because he might hopefully make a change. I think that papacita is a waste of time, but they say that love is blind, I also think that he is too comfortable and he knows that she isn't going to leave him so he just goes on flirting with other women and has his fun. I believe that some part of him really loves Girlie because he keeps coming back to her, but i guess that he gets some sort of thrill when he goes out and cheats. I don't like Bra Ambo's character very much, though much isn't said abt him, he seems to be a very sly and mischievous individual as well as envious of Brother man. All in all the book thus far seems to be quite interesting and i look foward to knowing what is in store coming towards the end.
