Life of William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was an English Poet and Playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English Language and the world's preeminent dramatist. He is often referred to as England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon”


Shakespeare was born in the year 1564 April 23rd in Stratford – upon – Avon England which was located to the west of Cambridge, this was known as St. Georges Day which was located to the west of Cambridge where he was raised and died in 1616. Shakespeare’s siblings were Joan who was born in 1569 and died in 1646, Gilbert born 1566 and died in 1612 he was a tradesman and haberdasher, Margaret who was born in 1562 and died in 1563, Joan born in 1558 and later died from plague, Edund who was born in 1580 and died in 1607, Richard who was born in 1574 and died in 1613 and anne who was born in 1571 and died in 1579.
He was the son of John and Mary Aden Shakespeare. His mother was the daughter of a wealthy landowner whereas his father was a glove maker and politician, he was elected into civil positions within the community between 1557 and 15 70 he also prospered dealing with farm products and wool but he later had issue with debt. His father died in 1601 and his Mother later died in 1608. As a child he enjoyed learning Enlish and reading stories by Latin authors. His father died in 1601 and his Mother later died in 1608. Shakespeare attended Stratford Grammer school from ages 6-13 He is Educated in Rhetoric, Logic, History and Latin and probably attended Kings New school in Stratford.. Shakespeare got married to 26 year old Anne Hathaway in the year 1582, who was pregnant at the time with their first daughter Susanna. They later had twins Hamnet and Judith in the year 1585, However, Hamnet died in 1596. He worked for a butcher at the time During the years 1578-1582 and 1585-1592 there is no information on what V was doing at this time.Sometime between 1585-1592, he moved to London and began working in theatre. There became Member and later part – owner of the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, Which was later renamed to the Kings Men Globe Theatre built in 1599 by L.C.M with Shakespeare as primary investor. He later gained a career in poet, actor and playwright in 1602 acquiring wealth However, on a sad note the theatre burned down in 1613 during one of Shakespeare’s plays. Shakespeare wrote 38 plays, 14 comedies, 10 histories, 10 tragedies and 4 romances, there is a possibility he wrote 7 others and collaborated on several others. Two major poems by Shakespeare are Venus and Rape of Lucrece, he also wrote 154 sonnets and numerous other poems. He did not write in “old English” neither “Middle English” he wrote in “Modern English”

Shakespeare was a very talented writer/actor and so his talent reflected on him positively, for he gained wealth and fame because of his great knowledge and passion for what he did.
